Gastric Band Cutter
Migration of Gastric Band Implants
It is well known from the available literature, that up to 3% of all implanted gastric bands migrate through the stomach wall into the lumen of the stomach. This usually requires a certain period of time and surgical correction. Besides surgical dissection techniques applied, the stiffness and hardness of the implanted gastric band system seems to play an important role in the incidence rate of band migration. We believe that stiff and hard, high pressure band systems show a higher migration rate than soft and low pressure systems.
