Congratulations to Rebecca Cousins, Senior Research Nurse at North Bristol NHS Trust, who was awarded a £500 Travel Grant. This grant will enable Rebecca to attend the RCN International Nursing Research Conference from the 8th-10th September 2025 in Exeter. This conference will explore the pivotal role of nursing research in addressing pressing health challenges.
The RCN will highlight how innovative research can drive equitable, evidence-based care. Bringing together nursing leaders, researchers, and practitioners, the conference will foster collaboration to advance healthcare solutions, strengthen resilience, and shape the future of global health in an ever-changing landscape. The 2025 RCN will also showcase research that demonstrates strong methodological expertise and team working leading to improved clinical and applied health, public, social and community health and/or acute care settings.
Rebecca said ‘I am absolutely thrilled to have secured this travel grant from the Charles Reynolds Foundation, through The Urology Foundation (TUF), and attend the RCN International Nursing Research Conference this September. I am particularly encouraged by the programme showcasing research around women's health, continence in the community and UTI management in people with spinal cord injury, areas I know are supported by TUF.
I think lots of people are unaware that nurses are responsible for the design, securing the funding for, and leading the research in healthcare, and this is increasing all the time. Its also happening amongst allied health professionals.
The future and sustainability of our NHS is paramount; by supporting research that improves patient outcomes and reduces risk, and we can provide a sustainable healthcare system for generations to come. This grant has now given me the opportunity to network with other healthcare professionals in urology and clinical research fields, expand my specialist knowledge, and ultimately help with delivering better treatment and care to patients.'
